I said I would get around to talking more about coolTech and I believe that time has finally come. As mentioned in my previous post on the topic, the mini conference had a lot of cool things to show, but for me was to business centric. Which is what the TBTF was trying to do, so I guess their goal was accomplished. But it focused on networking the attendees (and therefore the companies they come from) with the companies that were showcased at the conference, and provided little to no direct opportunity for the attendees to network with each other. This coupled with the fact that the showcased companies were just looking for people to buy into their products and services made the conference an overall fail in my opinion. Though their keynote speakers did make up somewhat for the rest of the show. They were both very dynamic speakers from interesting industries, there speeches were not quite TED worthy, but still worth the trip. I think an event that is all encompassing, with business-2-business, peer-2-peer and even student-2-company networking possibilities would appeal to a much broader spectrum of individuals and make the overall conference a much greater success.
Now enough ranting, time for some cool pics.
The silent generator

A solar powered generator. The person from the company said that after a wedding, the generator actually left with MORE power in the batteries than it had when they dropped it off. That's pretty sweet.
Artificial body parts

This company makes artificial muscles and bones. I believe the gentleman even mentioned a whole artificial cadaver int he making. These are great for learning anatomy, and even surgical practice. And from what I hear, they are way cheaper than real cadavers, with the added bonus of not having to wait for anybody to die.
Tricked out Car
I'm not quite sure what it does, but this car has more electrics than my living room and computer area combined. And believe me, if you ask anyone that knows me, that is hard to do.
